You will struggle to make much more than 29psi with the older h圆0w hooked to manifold pressure, you will need to bleed away some pressure or the waste gate opens far to early. The older h圆0w are fitted with an accuator to suit the cm570 which has an arrangement on the intake manifold to reduce the pressure in the line to the accuator, so the accuator spring is to soft to accept straight and actual boost pressure. While still achieving around 25psi on the jakes. The holset I mentioned comes fitted with a waste gate accuator that works perfectly and allows boost levels anywhere from 30psi to 40psi with a simple adjustment. A non gated turbo is fuel dependent on boost levels, therefore spools slowly then over boosts if you try to make any real HP. On my own cm871 I fitted a Holset HE600WG. If your doing it to save money, you're not going to save anything.(01-18-2017, 06:46 PM)Fhleader Wrote: Run a aftermarket manifold like full tilt or pdi and go buy a 700 horse cat turbo from turbo supply or area diesel. Not going to say it doesn't work, but there will be a point of restriction somewhere depending on power goals. Being the 6.7L flows so well, a VGT will eventually will limit flow, especially in the top end and create high drive pressures (not in all cases) I have yet to see a 6.7L spool any faster with a vgt than with a 63mm charger. We are seeing a 1:1 if not less backpressure to boost ratio on these trucks with our single kits. The 6.7L reacts very well to these fixed chargers, they flow well. If that's not torture testing altitude for vgt vs. This truck tows 20k+ pounds what seems like 24/7 across the nation, but mostly in Colorado and through the mountains with zero issues, zero complaints except for a blow boot one time. We have our second kit that rolled off production in a tow truck that sees 10k miles a MONTH. We can build a vgt kit, but we don't because there is zero need for a vgt on a 6.7L.
